DOG LICENCE

Dog Licences are law here in Ireland and a licence must be obtained for every individual dog. These can be purchased at your local Post Office.

Identification

All dogs should wear a collar with a name tag bearing the owners telephone number.

Micro-chips are a relatively new arrival to parts of Ireland and are still not available everywhere but it is strongly advisable if you can to have your dog chipped. A micro-chip is inserted under the skin on your dogs neck bearing all your details, home and work numbers etc. If he is picked up as a stray he will then be scanned and your details will be shown on the scanner this makes the chance of him being returned to you after he has escaped from your garden much higher. It is not painful to the dog and is over with in the blink of an eye.
